Instructions

  1. Stand with feet shoulder-width apart, bend at the hips with knees slightly bent, and grip a barbell with hands slightly wider than shoulder-width.
  2. Keep your back flat and torso at about a 45-degree angle to the floor.
  3. Pull the bar up toward your lower chest or upper abdomen, squeezing your shoulder blades together.
  4. Lower the bar back down in a controlled manner.
  5. Keep your core engaged throughout to protect your lower back.
